A lack of originality on the web also known as- 20 Questions

Share it Please
I honestly don't remember who I first saw this questionnaire on, but I am pretty sure that it has made an appearance on  Fly on Over , Viva Carlos and She Moved to Texas but let's be honest 90 percent of blogging has no original content, it's just awesome stuff we copy and never remember the origin of. Oh well it's still fun to read!

1. Whats your horses name and how did they come by it? Ray or Sugar Ray's registered name is Sugar Ray Knox, it's a combo of his parents names that he came with. The bummer about stock breeds is you cannot change their names if they have a show record. However Mouse sometimes known as Bailey, originally was named KSU Mo Badger Chex. Luckily she had no points so I quickly changed it to KSU Mighty Mouse, she's little but tough and has a very distinct mousey color.

2. What are your favorite breeches? Tailored Sportsmans, I have a few Ariats and Pikeurs, but I still love TS the best.

3. Tall boots or paddock boots and half chaps? Tall boots, my half chaps/paddock boots are actually a mock tall boot contraption called the Volant Fusion, so I basically always look like I'm in tall boots.

4. What brand of tall boots do you have (if you wear them)? If you had an unlimited budget what would you get? I used to have Rectiligne customs, after a tragic sizing issue, I now have, Milio Feline customs, even though they were not perfect, or even made for me, they do the trick till I have the time and funds to get another set of customs.

5. Favorite Helmet? GPA Speed Air, I had a Titum till I relized I was never gonna wear it anyway. I have a GR8 for shows, but honestly I really dislike wearing it, my Speed Air is much more perfect for my head.

6. Shows or no shows? I will compete in ANYTHING even things that are not good to compete in, like spending excessive money. So I show in tons of disciplines and events.

7. Jumping or flat work? I was actually talking to L about this on Sunday. Because I have not always had a fence horse, much of my career was spent on flat work. As much as I love the rush of jumping, I really prefer true nitty gritty foundation building flat work.

8. Hunters, Jumpers, Cross Country or Derby? Hunters ftw. I love love love pretty ponies, honestly I hate to admit it but looks are a fact in any of my horse purchases. I love that hunters requires skill but style.

9. What other disciplines have you ridden? Eveything, I did hunters all the way to regional pony finals and a few greenie things here or there after. I have competed to the world championship level in "all around" or the stock circuit. I rodeo some, and recently have begun rodeo queening, and I ride reining.

10. Dressed to the nines or whatever you find when riding? Unless it is summer on the ranch, which is hot, sandy, and no one is there. I am usually dressed to the nines.

11. Where do you usually shop for your horse? I do a lot of big purchases, tack, show equipment, through ebay/sales/forums. However I work at a tack shop so my day to day comes from them.

12. When was the last time you rode and what did you do? Sadly it was at Thanksgiving, cause the ponies are at the ranch. I rode all three, Ray and I goofed off bridle less and tried to run my dog over. Mouse and I worked on going in rommel reins since I will need them for my next pageant. I worked with Dad's new horse for one of the first times, we just kinda were testing her capabilities, but ended up changing leads in a hackamore (she is super green).

13. What tack do you use every ride/day? Hunt Seat I use my Sellier, one of my two Matte's half pads and a white square pad, with a Beval smooth leather girth. Then a Beval bridle with a Myler Roller D or Bobby's bridle with a rubber o ring roller snaffle. Western I use my Paul Taylor bridle with a twisted wire snaffle on Mouse, a bosal (or hackamore) on Roo, or a Myler square port in Ray. Then my Pro Equine impact foam pad and my Broken Horn saddle.

14. What are your horse's colors? Ray is purple and teal has been for 10 years. Mouse is hunter green, maroon and gold. Roo is black and silver.

15. How often do you clean your tack? Hunt seat, 3 times a week. Western about once every two weeks.

16. What kind of bit do you use? I am a unapologetic bit whore.... I have 6 in my tack trunk, one on each of my bridles, plus enough tack and bits to start my own shop at the ranch. I love love love Myler bits. I think their barrel rollers are so much better than joints in a normal bit. Plus their things are well made and always polish up really smart looking.

17. Mares or geldings? I have always been a geldings gal. Yet my barn now houses two mares one gelding..... I am not sure how I feel about it

18. What is something you want to improve on in your riding? always the constant battle for a better leg, in either discipline, honestly your leg can never be too strong. But aside from that I would like to work on "showing" better. I am a bit trainer esque. If it's not an equ class I don't give a crap about what I look like. Yet in queening, it is largely about making whatever is happening look nice.

19. Favorite horse quote?

"Riding a horse is not a gentle hobby, to be picked up and laid down like a game of solitaire. It is a grand passion. It seizes a person whole and once it has done so, the person will have to accept that their life will be radically changed." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

20. Most recent horse purchase?

Bits, specifically hollow full cheek and hollow D snaffles. For a horse I sold two days later... Opps, oh well I shall just add them to the collection.
